Disney acquired Marvel Entertainment in 2009, securing the rights to Marvel’s vast realm of superheroes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which has been a cash cow for Disney, includes major titles like “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Panther.” Additionally, Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, has benefited from hit shows like “WandaVision” and “Ms. Marvel”.
The acquisition cost Disney a total of $4 billion. Since then, the MCU has generated over $18 billion at the box office, making it a lucrative investment for the company. The first Marvel movie, “Iron Man,” was released in 2008, prior to Disney’s ownership of the comic giant. The deal was a strategic move for both parties: Marvel faced financing challenges for some major movies, while Disney saw opportunities to expand its portfolio of characters.
At GameStart Asia 2019, DIFY was appointed as the official PR Partner for Disney, aiding in Disney's involvement and participation at the event, including a Marvel Super War and Avengers game showcase. With a lead time of 4 weeks, it saw an attendance of 180 at the Suntec Convention Hall, Singapore.
